Patricia House, originally from Burnaby, now lives in Kamloops, BC.
During her high school years, Patricia was often recognized for her art in local competitions. After graduation, however, she decided to focus on the sciences. She attended the University of British Columbia, graduating in 1994 with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Bio-Resource Engineering. Patricia is also currently completing a Masters of Science at Thompson Rivers University. She played netball for BC and Canada, retiring from competition after the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
In 2012, her passion for painting was reignited when she discovered 4Cats Arts Studio for herself and children. She now makes time in her busy schedule to develop her technique as an artist at her home studio and workshops as well as practicing en plein air.
Working primarily in oils, Patricia occasionally dabbles in watercolours, photography, pencil, clay and metal welding. Her subjects are often connected to her personally – such as her children, animals from her farm, or from her travels. Her perspective often captures the extraordinary in the ordinary.
She has competed three times at the Kamloops Art Battle, and has made it into the final round of competition. She has exhibited at the Kamloops Art Council’s Art Exposed since 2014, with several Honourable Mentions. She also displays as part of their Art in Public Spaces exhibition around Kamloops. Her work has been selected by Kamloops Timeraisers.
In the fall of 2018, she achieved ‘Exhibiting’ (formerly ‘Active’) status with the Canadian Federation of Artists. Since then, she has had works accepted to shows in Federation shows on Granville Islands and the Thompson Okanagan.
